Motor Boot Sizing Instructions

The following measurements and information are required to custom-make your boots. Please read the instructions carefully and contact us if you have any questions at all.

(image: diagram of leg measurement zones)

For each leg, we must have the following measurements
(numbers correspond to chart at right):

  • Ball (1)
  • Waist (2)
  • Instep (3)
  • Heel (4)
  • Ankle
  • Shoe Top
  • Calf (5)
  • Boot Top (6)
  • Boot Height Inside (7)
  • Shoe Size

Please note whether these measurements were made over breeches/clothing or they were measured over bare leg.

We prefer measurements be taken over clothing worn with the footwear.  If not indicated, we will assume measurements and outlines were taken over clothing. The order form can be printed out by clicking here.

All measurements to be taken while seated and taken by someone other than yourself. Have your leg crossed over the other knee for circumference measurements 1 through 4.  For circumference measurements 5, 6 and 7, place fee flat on floor.  Calf to be measured around largest part of leg and around the top as illustrated.

Height for motor boots: Take height measurement 7 on inside of leg - add 1.25" for wrinkling at ankles. For mid-height boots, take circumference of leg at 9.5".

Foot Outlines: Take foot outlines while standing with equal weight on both feet. Be sure to include foot outlines on or with your order form. Draw the outlines holding pencil perpendicular.
Manufacturing Time: Dehner Custom Motor Boots can take up to 12 weeks, so plan accordingly. All American Motor Boots generally take about 4 weeks to complete.
